Ghosted (Ghosted #1) by Sarah Ready

Image
We've moved, please haunt us here My first Sarah Ready book! Jillian is a writer who can't talk to men except the ghost residing in her new apartment. Her career is in turmoil and Daniel the ghost shows up and tosses her whole life into another dimension of weird.  One of the things that I love about this book is how descriptive it is. When the character enters a room, you feel like you've been teleported there. The sights, sounds and smells are so detailed. When a character eats something, you want to eat it. This writing is so immersive, I'm obsessed with it.  I adore Jillian's character and her coworkers/friends. This book has a way of making you feel like you're walking around NYC.  Jillian and Daniel's story is so unique and so fucking delightful. Their chemistry is a whole vibe. I would put money on you loving this book because I did.

Not In the Plan by Dana Hawkins

Image
We've moved, grab a coffee and check us out here Charlie is a struggling coffee shop owner and Mack is a writer struggling to finish her next novel and meet an impending deadline. When Mack wanders into Charlie's coffee shop, she is struck with inspiration and keeps coming back every day for a visit with her muse.  This is my first Dana Hawkins book and it's so sweet. It also has one of the cutest intros that I've ever read. It's got a little bit of a grumpy/sunshine vibes but that's not really what this book is. It's about a friendship that evolves into something more. I love the element of Charlie's coworker/bestie Ben. I don't understand the Macklemore obsession. One thing that I did really enjoy was the detailed descriptions of Seattle, you almost feel like you're there. Mack's Dad is a baseball fan, love that. The chapters are coffee drink themed which leaves you craving all sorts of coffee shop delights.  This book also explores complic

Mostly Loathing You (Just Peachy #2) by Nicole Ryan

Image
We've moved! Come read along here This is my first Nicole Ryan novel and an ARC from NetGalley. While this is book #2 in the Just Peachy series, it can be read as a standalone. This book is in the vein of the enemies to lovers trope but these two MC's practically HATE each other. Hannah and Liam grew up together with their families close friends but now that they're in their late 20's they despise each other. Hannah moves to Atlanta from NYC to be closer to her brother and gets a job working for his law firm as an assistant to pay the bills in between auditions. It just so happens that Liam also works there. Hannah has a lot on her plate between auditioning, helping out with her brother's wedding and dealing with her awful parents, so Liam is the cherry bomb on top of her daily life. It's almost 3am because I stayed up way too late reading this. This book had me in a chokehold, I read it in one night. The story was just too good to put down. If you're in a

Love Interest #9 (Big Star, Small Town #2) by Mia Summers

Image
We've moved! Please read along here  Book #2 in this series follows the story of Lucas Stone, the best friend of Ryan Jones (the famous actor in book #1) and he is also a Hollywood hunk. In book one, Lucas is scouting a film location for the majority of the book and this is the story of what he's doing while Ryan is handcuffed to Olivia. Rachel has recently broken up with her wealthy, cheating ex-boyfriend who has moved back home to Canyon Ridge, WA from New York City after being let go her museum job. After living with her dad and stepmom (who is also her former college roommate) she gets her old high school job back as a wilderness tour guide for a local hotel, which also gives her a room of her own at the hotel. She is an experienced local guide who ends up helping Lucas scout locations for his film and she is not a fan of rich people so you can imagine how spending loads of time together goes for them.  I really liked the crossover from the first book with Lucas, as we met

Hooked On Hollywood (Big Star, Small Town #1) by Mia Summers

Image
We've moved! Please read along here This is my first Mia Summers book, I received it through NetGalley in exchange for my honest review. In this closed door, forced proximity romance, we find our MC Olivia back in her small hometown after catching her fiance cheating with her maid of honor in LA. She's trying to figure out where to go next with her life while her friends are plotting to cheer her up. She ends up on a date with her celebrity crush in handcuffs that they can't seem to get out of. For the next five days, Olivia and Ryan are handcuffed together and things get pretty interesting! The spice level of this book is on par with a Hallmark channel production but equally as sweet.  The story is well written and my favorite part of the book was the author describing flavors. It's giving "foodie". The small town girl meets rich Hollywood movie star is always a cute trope but I appreciate the picture the author paints of the small seaside town and the depth

One Sweet Holiday (Jasmine Falls Love Stories #3) by Lucy Day

Image
We've moved! Please read along here This is my first Lucy Day book so obviously I haven't read any of the other books in the series. I received a copy of this from NetGalley in exchange for honest feedback. Our main character Gwen lives in Jasmine Falls, SC which is a small town. She's just recently dumped her fiance because he was cheating on her but now her sister Victoria is getting married over the holiday season and Gwen is trying to get her head in order to get through this wedding and the holiday season with her cafe. It doesn't help that her mother won't stop meddling in her life and trying to play matchmaker for her. Victoria and her future husband end up renting her house out, which is right next door to Gwen, to a wedding guest flying in from Scotland. Wouldn't you know, he just so happens to be very handsome and Gwen keeps running into him. After no luck finding a date to the wedding and desperate to get her mom off her back so that she can focus on

Three Hearts Hideaway by Luna Day

Image
We've moved! Please read along here Our story takes place in Canada and our 33 year old MC Ava took off with zero plans to a small town after her narcissist, gaslighting (now ex) boyfriend sent out a voice message to everyone in her contact list (including her parents, boss and clients) slut shaming her for asking him for what she really wants in bed. Ava lands in the town of Little Greenfield with no hotel accommodations and no plans for her 10 day vacay other than figuring out what she wants going forward in her life and relationships. She stops at the only hotel in town, only to learn that there are no rooms available due to a fishing competition and heads across the street to drown her sorrows while the kind owner of the hotel tries to figure out a place for her to stay. Then we meet Roman, the bar owner/tender across the street whom she pours her heart out to and ends up offering her a place to stay. It turns out that Roman and his best friend Roman are in the process of con

Kismet by Gab Tuls

We've moved! Please read along here I received this book in exchange for an honest review from NetGalley. This book was a quick and fun read. Our 24 year old MC Tracey's life is kind of falling apart. Does she get on track or enter into her villain era? In the vein of the "Choose Your Own Adventure" books I read and loved as a kid, this book presents a similar idea but with some spice! Our very sex positive main character resides in Australia and finds herself with no relationship and no job. The reader is responsible for finding Tracey's happy ending. My first time through, my ending was "If you'd like Tracey to have a happy ever after, return to the start and help her make better choices." I found this book incredibly easy to navigate on the kindle which was a great plus for me and going back through and attempting a happy ending was just as fun as reading through the first time. It's like you get multiple books in one! The theme seems to be

Below Zero (The STEMinist Novellas #3) by Ali Hazelwood

Image
We've moved! Please read along here Last book of this novella series, realistically they could have all been combined into one book. Hannah' and Ian's story is another dual timeline, taking place at CalTech/NASA and Norway. Ian is actually Mara's cousin (Mara is from book 1), which I thought was a cute tie in. In this book we see all of the girls reunited in Houston, the first and only time they're all together in the present day timeline. I think this series could have used more of that. After reading this book, I feel like the first book is definitely the best. While the MC is pretty well developed, her love interest really isn't. Given more pages, he could have been better developed and may have been a great full length book. I actually enjoyed the plot. The ending was ok but I'd have liked the end to see all of the girls together. All in all, not a TERRIBLE Novella series but I'd rather have just had full length books of book 1 and 3.

Stuck with You (The STEMinist Novellas #2) by Ali Hazelwood

Image
We've moved! Please read along here This is the first Ali story that I felt very meh about. The characters weren't well developed, weren't really likable, and the ending felt a little bit like someone slapped a sticker on it that said "done". I'm just thankful that this wasn't a full book because I'd have been very irritated trying to get through it. The MC in particular just seemed boring and unlikable to me. Maybe if it had been a full book she'd have been able to fill out the characters more but this just felt like a third act breakup segment of a full book. I don't have super high hopes for the third novella in this series but I'll read the damn thing anyways. I'm hoping there's a little crossover from Love On the Brain since that MC is employed with NASA, that might warm me up to this novella series a little bit more. All in all, I wouldn't say that this book was HORRIBLE. I don't think that the dual timeline really hel

Under One Roof (The STEMinist Novellas #1) by Ali Hazelwood

Image
We've moved! Please read along here I read some goodreads reviews before I started this novella and I truly don't understand the hate. Ali Hazelwood has me in a complete chokehold.  We've got another STEM romance in the enemies to lovers/forced proximity trope. This book starts out with a love scene which is a little odd to me. I mean, aren't we kind of reading in anticipation of that? I guess we know it'll eventually happen anyways. While I did find that a little odd, it fit with the way the story read. I thought that this book was super cute and the characters are well-developed in proportion to the length of the book. This book had significantly less STEM academia than previous novels by this author and I actually enjoyed that. The main focus of this story is their relationship and there isn't much for bunny trails. I liked the storyline leading up to their first physical encounter, it was so awkward that I was vocally reacting to it. The ending is fantasti

Love On the Brain by Ali Hazelwood

We've moved! Please read along here I know, I know, I know. Another Ali Hazelwood novel. My seasonal depression is currently making all of my reading choices, give me a break. So, this go round we've got a neuroscientist named Bee who has purple hair and piercings, is obsessed with Marie Curie and has a career that's teetering between failure and success. She's got a betrayal by her ex-fiance and her best friend under her belt. She's also got an amazing job offer helping out on a project with NASA to develop a special helmet for astronauts that will catapult her career to success. And she has a co-lead on her project, who is a man who has despised her since college. She's got a twin who's been "backpacking" since they graduated high school, an obsession with cats and lean cuisines, she's trying to become a runner. Let's be honest, Bee has a lot on her plate. And then she lands in Houston, Texas (which is disgusting for obvious reasons

Love, Theoretically by Ali Hazelwood

Image
We've moved! Please read along here What can I say, my last book may have gotten my hooked on Ali Hazelwood. This book is a whole mess of entanglements and I adore it. Elsie is an adjunct professor and a theoretical physicist. She is also a chronic people pleaser who tends to morph herself into whatever she thinks that whoever she’s talking to wants her to be. She’s desperately searching for a new job with health insurance due to her type 1 diabetes and also not wanting to live in a gross apartment. Jack is the brother of the guy she fake dates for money through an app called Faux and an experimental physicist. Jack is brutally honest and despises lies/being fake.  I love that there’s still fake dating but it’s not between the two main characters, that she ends up in a huge mess with her fake date’s brother. I love the grandmother Millicent most of all, I think. I’m guessing that I’ll be just like her when I’m old 😆 This book has lots of nerdy science in it. Lots of talk about ph

The Love Hypothesis by Ali Hazelwood

Image
We've moved! Please read along here This is my first Ali Hazelwood book and I loved it! Let me say, my seasonal depression needed this! The characters are so well thought out and the cringey moments are so cringe. It was delightfully funny, had just the right amount of steaminess imo, and I absolutely loved the storyline. If you’re currently still in college, you’ll probably love this book even more. This book has a fake dating trope with a professor/student sort of vibe although it’s not that exactly. All of the butterflies and awkward moments are delightfully written. If they turn this into a movie, I’ll watch it. This came highly recommended in the romcom category on booktok and they got it right with this one! If you’re looking for a quick/temporary cure for your seasonal depression, I highly recommend this book!
