A Court of Thorns and Roses (ACOTAR #1) by Sarah J Maas

We've moved! Click here for more fairy smut   I'll be honest, I started this series because my friend Michale would NOT leave me alone about reading it. Not to mention, Booktok/Bookstagram would not shut up about it. Barnes and Noble would not shut up about it. Goodreads would not shut up about it. I begrudgingly started the audiobook while cleaning and meal prepping one night. I was bored out of my mind for several chapters. But once Tamlin shows up and carts Feyre off to faerie land, the book actually got interesting. In fact, shit gets crazy. The story is so intricately woven into all of these books with crazy ass plot twists that I never saw coming. So, this book is on the slower side of the series. This book sets up the groundwork for the story. Power through, you're in for a wild fuckin' ride.

It Happened One Summer by Tessa Bailey

We've moved sites! Get over here ! I really liked the plot of this book. It definitely had me "hooked". Had to throw a cheesy fishing joke in there. The writing was very witty and entertaining. The side story lines also held their own. This is a great read to pull you out of a reading slump! It's fast paced and keeps you engaged. My only complaint was that the main characters were a little annoying to me. A little too, Paris Hilton meets a guy from Deadliest Catch. But by the middle of the book, they grew on me as their characters developed. I understand that there had been talk of turning this book into a movie in 2022 but it hasn't come to fruition at the time of this blog post.

First Base (Chicago Heartbreakers Book 1) by Ally Wiegand

We've moved sites, come hit a home run here Maggie is a photographer for the Chicago Cougars MLB team who just acquired a new bad boy player named Tommy from San Diego. When the paparazzi snap a photo of Maggie and Tommy outside of a night club the MLB team decides that they need to pretend to date for Tommy to keep his baseball career and if Maggie agrees she'll get a much needed paycheck. I am so freaking excited about this book because I love Chicago baseball. I grew up a Chicago Cubs fan (Go Cubs Go) and I've been to many games at Wrigley. Not only that but Spring Training games are happening as I'm typing this out.  I absolutely loved this book. Maggie's character is so relatable to me because I'm also an introvert. Tommy's character is entirely endearing. Even the supporting characters are very well written. The only constructive criticism that I really have is that I would have liked some more Chicago ambiance. Maybe some Italian Beef references i

Loyally Luke by Pepper Basham

We've moved! Visit the new site here Plot: Luke is an American carpenter visiting the foreign country of Skymar to help repair an orphanage. Elliana is a princess of the country who is overseeing the project. I understand that this book is part of a series but I have yet to read it or anything by the author yet. This book is so Hallmark movie that it makes several Hallmark movie references. The beginning is very slow and when I say slow, I mean that not much at all happens in the first quarter of the book. This book has frequent mentions of God and praying so if that's not your thing, steer clear.  This book reads more like the screenplay of a Hallmark movie and I would probably enjoy watching it in that format more than I would enjoy reading it in a book format. The story line isn't bad, though it is predictable and overdone. I'd probably have enjoyed the book more if the first quarter was cut out because as I said previously, almost nothing happens. That being said, t
