Birding With Benefits by Sarah T. Dubb

Image
This site has moved, please come on over with us here Celeste is divorced and is on a journey of discovery to find out who she is after losing herself in her marriage. She shows up at a park to meet with a guy who's squaring up with his ex. She believes she's supposed to be acting as his new partner, only to find out it's actually his partner in a birding contest. But that's after she's already told his ex that they're dating. Celeste agrees to compete in a "Bird Binge" with John, bird watching for 42 days to find as many species as possible while also being his fake girlfriend. Might as well bring him along to a few events as her fake boyfriend as well, right?  This book kicks immediately into high gear hilarity. The female MC's personality is so refreshingly all over the place in the beginning. John is a quiet introvert who enjoys woodworking, hiking and bird watching. He comes off as so gentle and caring. They cannot be more opposite but learn

Summer Romance by Annabel Monaghan

Image
This site has moved, please come visit us here This book started out very slow for me, I had a hard time getting into it. The first three chapters felt slower than molasses in January, then of a sudden it's like you're on the freeway and you realize that your brakes don't work. Ok, not that extreme because this obviously isn't a thriller but this book is like mainlining dopamine from Chapter 4 and beyond. I was literally blushing on my living room couch, eating Goldfish in my sweatpants and a messy bun like I myself was having a summer romance.  The FMC starts out sad. Her life is full of endings and she can't seem to get her shit together. She's 38, she has 3 kids, and btw, Fuck Peter. That's all that I have to say about that. I like that the MCs are in their late 30's. They're full-on fucking grown ups and isn't that refreshing.  This is a fade to black romance so if it's smut you're searching for, search elsewhere. It is meaningful wit

Bride by Ali Hazelwood

Image
This site has moved, please come chill with us over here  I love Ali Hazelwood books, I love Paranormal romance, so what's not to love? I have to admit, I usually lean more towards reading witchy type books but this book killed it. An inter-species romance, a villain twist that I did not see coming (like- at all), the mystery of where the hell her best friend has disappeared to. As always, it was well written. The characters were likable. Ali hasn't published any fantasy type books yet. I mean, I'd read anything she writes but she did an excellent job. I hope she does more fantasy. In the mean time, I'm waiting for her next STEM romance in June.

My Roomate Is A Vampire by Jenna Levine

This site has moved, please come hang out over here While this book may have some cheesy and campy elements, that’s its charm. It has the vibe of a movie like Teen Wolf or My Boyfriend’s Back. It’s funny, it’s cute, and I fucking love it. Is it the literary work of our generation? No. Is it a book I’ll reread multiple times for the rest of my life? Yes. I’ll happily give this 5 stars because I had so much fun reading this and I couldn’t put it down. Cannot recommend enough. No angsty breakup drama, pretty much no drama at all. In fact, this is a great book to read if you’re sick of having an anxiety attack every time you pick up a book (I’m looking at you, ACOTAR). I love the characters, the plot is cute and well thought out. The epilogue is chef’s kiss 💋

Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover

Image
This site has moved, pack up and find us over here Why does Colleen Hoover always make me cry? This relationship was toxic AF. The elevator scene where Miles pushed the emergency button. Yeah, idk. I cried like 4 times during this book. And being with a man who calls you another woman’s name during sex? 🙃 Idk, either Tate is mentally ill or I am. The whole book would have fallen apart without Cap’s character. He was my absolute fave and my only highlighted quotes.

Summertime Punchline by Betty Corrello

This site has moved on to bigger and better things, come help me celebrate over here! You can never go home again until your life blows up and you have to. Down on her luck comedienne Del lands back in Evergreen, New Jersey after 10 years. She's preparing for a comedy festival that could make our break her life. Oh yeah, and THE guy from high school is there. This book was a great read. So creative. The characters feelings come across as so raw. They're well written and relatable. They feel like someone you might know. The love the alternating timelines telling Del and Eddie's stories throughout the book. There's two stories going at once and they both had me on the edge of my seat wondering how they were going to end. Betty's paints a beautiful picture of Evergreen and the people in it. I've never had the desire to visit Jersey (especially after watching so many seasons of Jersey Shore) but this book makes me think that it might be worth the trip. I'll be o

Hook Line and Sinker (Bellinger Sisters #2) by Tessa Bailey

Image
We've moved! New site here I honestly liked this book better than the first one, I think that the characters were more relatable and had more depth. I found Hannah to be a more likable character than Piper and Fox to be a more likable character than Brendan. Piper and Brendan make appearances in this book and it just solidifies my opinion that Hannaha and Fox are superior characters.

A Court of Silver Flames (ACOTAR #4) by Sarah J Maas

Image
This site has moved, come read along over here This book was so hard for me to get in to. I know, character development and all of that. But Nesta's character took WAY too long to develop. She was acting like a straight cunt for like 250 pages. I wanted to punch her in the face and it made me not want to read the book. Every time I picked it up, I was like, UGGGGHHHHHHH. But I did it, I made it to the end. And Nesta's character did finally develop, I don't want to punch her in the face anymore.

I'm Glad My Mom Died by Jennette McCurdy

Image
This site has moved, come read along over here   There is so much what in the actual fuck in this book. Your heart will break for Jennette. But in a light hearted way, somehow. A lot of insight/perspective on child abuse/eating disorders. We all know now that Nickelodeon treated their child stars like doo doo, Jennette alludes to some of that without stating anything outright. I really hope that she gets her HEA <3

A Court of Frost And Starlight (ACOTAR #3.5) by Sarah J. Maas

We've moved! Come ACOTAR it up over here It's not like this is TERRIBLE, it's just that nothing really happens. It's a wrap up to Feyre's time as MC and sets the series up to hand off the baton to Nesta.

A Court of Wings And Ruin (ACOTAR #3) by Sarah J Maas

We've moved! Come talk about fairy sex over here Another crazy epic fantasy/romantasy. Fayre and Rhys must find out where there enemies and allies are. Lots of battles and gore in this one

A Court of Mist And Fury (ACOTAR #2) by Sarah J Maas

We've moved, come talk about one of the best books ever written over here This is my absolute favorite book of the series as of today's date (4/3/2024). It is a masterpiece. It is the best in the series. It is an epic fantasy/romantasy/thriller/adventure. I will accept no criticism on this book. It is perfection.
