BRB

Haven't been posting for a minute because I just got back from a vacay in Navarre Beach, Florida! My husband and I celebrated our 2 year wedding anniversary ANNNND my 40th birthday. I was worried this bday might be a little bit traumatic for me so I took a trip to Florida to ease the pain. Fun fact, I used to live in Milton, Florida when I was a kid and Navarre Beach was my favorite place to spend time. The trip was nothing short of amazing. Rest assured, I haven't given up on my little blog that could. Reviews will be coming soon!

The Book of Magic by Alice Hoffman - Book #2 in the Practical Magic Series

This site has moved! Please read along here I think that it's pretty obvious that I had a hard time getting into this book, considering how long it took me to post this. I felt that once again, it started very slow.  Kylie and Antonia are grown up and VINCENT returns! Sally has somehow found herself a third love interest, Gillian is shockingly with the same man and the girls are growing into the realization of the Owens curse. A large portion of this book takes place in rainy London. The Owens family also makes the trip back to Maria's home town, in search of finally breaking the curse. There's some apple pie baking going on and if you read this book last like me, you'll know what that means. Two new Owens babies and we lose some Owens family members along the way.  Surprisingly enough, there were no familiars in this book. Well, not in the way that they present in the other books. I was kind of thankful, to be honest. They always seem to die in the most sad ways in thi

Fall TBR

I'm currently finishing up the last book of the Practical Magic Series, The Book of Magic by Alice Hoffman (I'm having a hard time getting into it). Then I'm finishing Book 4 in the witches of Thistle Grove series: In Charm's Way by Lana Harper, which I forced myself to stop reading until I can finish The Book of Magic. After that, in no particular order: How To Fake Date a Vampire by Linsey Hall (Book #2 in the charming cove series) The Ex Hex by Erin Sterling The Kiss Curse by Erin Sterling The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches by Songu Mandanna A Witch's Guide to Fake Dating a Demon by Sarah Hawley The Only Purple House In Town by Ann Aguirre Legends & Lattes by Travis Baldree The House Witch by Delemhach Keeper of Enchanted Rooms by Charlie N. Holmberg Accidental Magic by Iris Beaglehole Apple Cider Slaying Julie Ann Lindsey Not Your Ex's Hexes by April Asher And probably many more that I haven't discovered yet. What's your fall TBR? Let

Practical Magic by Alice Hoffman - Book #1 in the Practical Magic Series

We've moved! Please read along here I'm down to one book left in this series, so I've been very excited to start it. If you've been reading along with me, you know that I decided to read this series in timeline order rather than the order they were released. I liked this book but if you're reading it looking for the movie, go elsewhere. The movie strays quite a bit from the novel. I think the nice thing about having seen the movie is that you don't have to imagine in your head what the characters look like, do you know what I mean? For some reason when I can't visualize my character, I feel off. No quarrel with that here, obviously. It happened to me when I read the Haunting Adeline/Hunting Adeline duo though. I finally had to go on Tik Tok and look up what other people thought that they looked like because I couldn't concentrate on the book without having that visual in my head 😆 So that was a plus for me, personally.  On to the book itself. This was

Back In A Spell by Lana Harper

We've moved! Come read along here Thistle Grove is starting to feel a lot like Stars Hollow and I'm here for it. I think this might be my favorite book in this series so far. Our story's heroine in book #3 is a Blackmoore, the family who's been painted as a villain/adversary in the first two books. Still the familiar cast of characters but focusing in on Gareth's older sister Nina as the main character and the bartender Morty from Book #1 as her potential love interest. The exploration of the hunger for power is intelligently written and interesting. As always, there's a little mystery to solve in this book. There's a wildly intense love story and let me just tell you, Lana still has some tricks up her sleeve because she was able to surprise me with new and interesting ideas in this book. She explores a blessing/curse duality, there's new magic, our trusty enemies to loves story arc, and also a darker exploration of family abuse/trauma. But don't thi

The Rules of Magic by Alice Hoffman - Book 0.2 in the Practical Magic series

We've moved! Please read along here I dug right into this book, which explores the life story of "The Aunts" in the Practical Magic movie. It feels like an exceptional prequel, exactly what you'd like. Familiar but not too familiar. I loved the element of the brother, a male Owens, which is the first I've heard of it so far. His storyline is incredible and heartbreaking. Honestly, all of the Owens stories in this book are shrouded in tragedy but it feels less heavy than Magic Lessons. There's so many great love stories and not all romantic but also love stories of friendship and family. Not to say that this is a better book by any means, it just spoke to me more so than Magic Lessons. Perhaps it's the fact that it's simply in a more current era it's mostly spanning the 50's throught the 70's. Either way, the theme remains the same, love and it's power. There's no less witchy things, no lack of familiars, spells or even a dabble of

Magic Lessons by Alice Hoffman Book 0.1 in the Practical Magic series

We've moved! Please read along here I have been really excited to start this book series because I love the movie Practical Magic. I decided to read these in chronological order rather than in the order that they were released. Maybe that was a mistake on my part because this book took me a really long time to get into. I felt that it started out very slow. Luckily, I have the Libby app so I checked out the audio book and just started listening to it to and from work or while I was out running errands. I was finally able to get to a point in the book where I found it interesting! And the plot really does start to pick up, it just takes awhile in my humble opinion. But now, to the meat of it. I am so glad that I was able to get into this story because it's a great one! You see a little clip in the movie of Maria Owens's story but this is the whole meat and potatoes of it. Once you really get into it, it's an extremely interesting story and a page turner. Lots of witch
